Former Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has delivered one of his bluntest critiques of President William Ruto, accusing the head of state of ignoring genuine warnings about the direction the country is taking.
Wamalwa said leaders who raise concerns about the growing economic pressure and political tension are often dismissed instead of being heard.
He claimed the president responds with contempt and treats those offering alternative views as people who lack understanding.
Wamalwa argued that the country is facing rising frustrations that cannot be solved by brushing aside criticism. He said many Kenyans are calling for honest leadership that is willing to admit mistakes and adjust course.
According to him, the administration’s refusal to accept counsel has created a sense of distance between the government and the public.
He added that pride in leadership has consequences and warned that political fortunes shift quickly when citizens feel unheard.
Wamalwa urged Ruto to reflect on the concerns raised by political leaders, civil society, and ordinary citizens. He stressed that national stability depends on humility and an open ear, not confrontation.
His remarks have stirred fresh debate within political circles, with supporters praising his boldness and critics accusing him of seeking political relevance ahead of future contests.
