Cherargei Declares ODM Will Not Easily Get Running Mate Slot in 2027 Alliance

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has stirred fresh political debate after announcing that the Orange Democratic Movement will not secure the running mate position in the anticipated broad based coalition for the 2027 General Election.

Cherargei insisted that the emerging alliance structure is being crafted to ensure fair representation of all parties, not just dominant political players.

According to the outspoken senator, the 2027 political landscape will demand new power sharing formulas aimed at strengthening national unity and balancing regional interests.

He argued that while ODM remains a key political force, it should not automatically expect to retain influential positions traditionally associated with major parties.

Cherargei added that the coalition under formation seeks to bring together a wide range of leaders from different regions, insisting that leadership roles including the running mate slot must reflect inclusivity rather than entitlement.

“The next government must be built on fairness".

"No single party should claim ownership of top positions,” he said.

His remarks come at a time when political realignments are intensifying, with parties across the country openly negotiating alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.

ODM has not officially responded to Cherargei’s comments, but insiders believe the statement could trigger fresh discussions within the coalition building process.

Political analysts suggest that Cherargei’s declaration signals early efforts by various factions to shape the structure of the next national leadership.

As coalition talks continue, the question of who gets the running mate slot remains a major point of interest for both party supporters and the wider public.

The coming months are expected to reveal more details about the broad based arrangement and how key positions will be distributed among participating parties.
