President William Ruto has said that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) are not as different as many people think.
Speaking during a gathering, the President explained that both parties share a similar dream for the country a dream of economic growth, unity, and national progress.
Ruto revealed that in his last private meeting with the late ODM leader Raila Odinga, whom many Kenyans fondly call Baba, the two leaders spent time discussing how Kenya can rise from being a third-world nation to becoming a first-world country.
According to the President, their conversation focused on practical ways of improving the economy, supporting young people, and creating a fair environment where every Kenyan has a chance to succeed.
He noted that while politics often creates divisions, the truth is that most leaders want the same thing for the country.
He argued that ODM and UDA may compete in elections, but their long-term goals are closely aligned.
Both parties believe in strengthening institutions, expanding opportunities, and pushing Kenya toward modern development.
Ruto emphasized that Kenya cannot grow if leaders continue fighting each other instead of finding common ground.
He praised Raila Odinga for being open to dialogue and for showing a strong interest in the country’s progress beyond politics.
He added that their discussion was honest, forward-looking, and focused on areas where cooperation can make a real difference.
The President also urged Kenyans to look beyond party differences and support national unity.
He said that a united Kenya, where leaders and citizens work together, can achieve major milestones such as industrial growth, improved infrastructure, and better social services.
