ODM leader Oburu Odinga has reminded Kenyans of the legacy left by his brother, the late Raila Odinga, especially regarding the Broad-Based Government.
Speaking today, Oburu said that Raila trusted the people of ODM to manage important political relationships responsibly.
“Raila alituacha kwa Broad-Based Government,” he stated.
Oburu was clear that the future decisions, particularly looking towards the 2027 elections, should follow a careful and orderly process.
“Ikifika mwaka wa 2027 tutaangalia ni nani tutaongea na yeye au sisi tutaenda pekeyetu,” he said.
Oburu stressed that there is no rush and that timing matters in politics.
“Hio ni wakati huo ukifika, hatutavuka daraja kabla hatujafika kwa daraja,” he added, using a vivid metaphor to describe the importance of patience and strategy.
He also used the occasion to remind ODM members of their responsibility to preserve Raila’s vision.
Oburu said the late leader worked tirelessly to bring people together and build bridges across political divides. Today, he urges party members to continue that work with courage and integrity.
According to Oburu, maintaining unity within ODM and respecting the structures set by Raila is key to ensuring the party remains strong and influential in national politics.
Beyond party politics, Oburu’s message was also one of hope and reassurance.
He encouraged Kenyans not to fear the future but to trust that ODM will navigate challenges carefully and wisely.
The party, he noted, must prioritize dialogue, inclusivity, and respect for the processes Raila established.
