“I Was Prepared But Decided Not to Risk” Gachagua Finally Opens Up on Why He Skipped Raila’s Funeral

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has ignited fresh national debate after revealing the real reason he skipped the state funeral of Raila Odinga at Nyayo Stadium.

His latest remarks have shed light on behind-the-scenes warnings he says he received from police officers.

Gachagua stated that he had been fully prepared to attend the funeral as a gesture of respect and national unity.

He said the ceremony was significant, and he wanted to stand with Raila’s family and supporters during the historic moment.

He revealed that his plans changed abruptly after several police officers privately warned him not to attend.

According to him, the officers told him that a group of plainclothes security personnel had allegedly been prepared to attack him inside the stadium.

Gachagua said the officers claimed the attack would then be blamed on residents of the Nyanza region to create hostility between communities.

He explained that the alleged scheme was meant to deepen political divisions at a time when the country needed healing.

He noted that the warning forced him to reconsider attending, despite his desire to honour the occasion.

He said the risk was too great, especially if the intention was to provoke widespread tension.

Gachagua stressed that the advice he received compelled him to put his safety and national stability first.

He said that after reflecting on the information, “I decided not to risk,” choosing instead to stay away from the ceremony.

His revelation has sparked intense public discussion, with many Kenyans debating the implications of the alleged plot.

Analysts say his claims raise serious questions about the political climate surrounding the funeral.

Gachagua insisted that his decision was not political but a precaution to avoid being used as a tool to divide communities.

He emphasized that unity remains his priority, even in moments of disagreement or suspicion.
