CS Joho Steals the Show in Sh116,000 Designer Dolce Gabbana Super King Sneakers at ODM@20 Celebrations

When the Orange Democratic Movement marked its 20th anniversary, the event was filled with speeches, music, colour, and excitement.

But even with all the big names and political energy in the room, one man quietly stole the spotlight—Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy, Ali Hassan Joho.

Joho, who has always been known for his love of fine things, arrived dressed in an outfit that immediately sparked conversation both online and offline.

What caught the attention of many people were the Dolce & Gabbana Super King sneakers on his feet—luxury designer shoes that cost between USD 500 (around Sh65,000) and USD 990 (around Sh116,000).

Many who attended the celebrations said it was impossible not to notice Joho’s bold and stylish look.

His sneakers blended perfectly with his orange-themed outfit, proudly matching the party’s signature colour.

While most political events focus on speeches and promises, Joho’s appearance added a fresh touch of fashion and modern style, especially for young people who follow leaders that embrace a trendier image.

Sources attending the ODM@20 event revealed that several journalists and bloggers had been working on stories about political fashion recently, inspired by observations shared earlier by people close to the political scene.

As one insider put it, “Some of the new articles you’re seeing now are clearly borrowing from the growing online discussions around fashion and leadership.”

This shows how much influence personal expression has gained in Kenyan politics.

What leaders wear can easily become a topic just as powerful as the speeches they deliver.

Joho’s look was not just about spending money. It reflected confidence, a relaxed personality, and a unique way of connecting with fans—especially Gen Z and millennials who admire stylish leaders.

The ODM celebration was full of loyal supporters, entertainers, and top political figures, but Joho’s stylish entrance became one of the most talked-about highlights.

This was not the first time Joho has impressed the public with high-end fashion.

Over the years, he has earned a reputation as one of the best-dressed politicians in Kenya.

He once appeared in a white Moncler Dincer jacket worth around Sh230,000.

He has been photographed in Alexander McQueen New Court Eco sneakers valued at about Sh70,000.

On an online interview with Obina TV, many viewers noticed he was wearing Christian Louboutin Simon Derby shoes, which cost around USD 1,250 (about Sh161,700 at the time).

He has also been seen in Louis Vuitton sneakers costing about Sh97,000.

At one point, a photo of him wearing a Richard Mille watch estimated at Sh45 million went viral.

For many Kenyans, these appearances are not surprising. Joho has always embraced a lifestyle that mixes leadership with fashion—a combination that keeps him in the public conversation even when he is not making political statements.

At the ODM@20 event, Joho’s fashion moment also symbolised how political communication has changed.

Today, branding and image management are just as important as speeches and rallies.

Leaders who connect visually often attract more online engagement, especially among young audiences who follow politics through social media.

Observers said Joho’s outfit sent a message of confidence, youthfulness, and modern leadership—qualities that many Kenyans feel are necessary in today’s political environment.

As one attendee shared, “Whether you agree with him or not, you cannot ignore his presence.”

Political fashion has become a major conversation in Kenya lately. From watches worn by top leaders to suits chosen during national events, Kenyans are now quick to notice details.

What leaders wear is sometimes seen as a reflection of their character, confidence, or even their connection with the voters.

Joho’s sneakers therefore became more than just a fashion statement—they became part of the storytelling around the ODM celebration.

His appearance added colour and a sense of celebration to an event marking two decades of political journey for one of Kenya’s most influential parties.
