Speculations as Oburu Oginga Holds Secret Meetings With These Leaders Over ODM Stability

Acting ODM party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga has embarked on an ambitious mission to restore peace and unity within the Orange Democratic Movement following internal wrangles that emerged after the death of Raila Odinga.

The Siaya Senator has been holding a series of private meetings with both senior and youthful party leaders to rebuild trust and stability in the party.

Analysts see this as a strategic reorganization aimed at strengthening ODM ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Over the past few weeks, Dr. Oginga has met key figures including youthful MPs Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Caleb Amisi (Saboti), and Anthony Kibagendi (Kitutu Chache South).

These leaders, alongside ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, are associated with the emerging political movement “Kenya Moja,” which seeks to promote generational change in national politics.

The movement has even attracted cross-party support, with leaders such as Githunguri MP Gathoni wa Muchomba (UDA) expressing solidarity.

It positions itself as a “third force” distinct from both President William Ruto’s government and the opposition front led by Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua.

In an interview, Dr. Oginga confirmed his meeting with Babu Owino, describing it as a positive step toward party unity. “We discussed the importance of inclusivity and teamwork within ODM.

Babu represents the energy and vision of the youth, and we stand united,” he said.

He also revealed ongoing talks with Sifuna and ODM deputy leader Godfrey Osotsi, emphasizing that the discussions are not about power struggles but about bringing everyone to the same table.

Dr. Oginga dismissed claims of a generational split within ODM, stressing that veteran leaders support youth participation in leadership. “This is not about age; it is about progress and unity,” he affirmed.
