Kitengela residents were left whispering in surprise after a usually quiet mini-mart, owned by a humble shopkeeper known as Mama Aisha, suddenly turned into one of the busiest hotspots in town almost overnight.
For months, Mama Aisha struggled silently as her small shop barely made enough to restock. Her shelves remained full, but customers rarely walked in.
Neighbours often joked that her shop was “too hidden to survive,” and some even advised her to close down.
“I used to sit for hours without selling even a single packet of milk,” she said.
“It was painful watching others flourish while I remained unnoticed.”
One evening, frustrated and on the verge of shutting down, she decided to make a change.
She deep-cleaned her shop, rearranged the shelves, introduced a small discount corner, and placed a colourful signboard outside, something she had never tried before.
She spent the whole night preparing, hoping for at least a small positive shift.
What happened the next morning left the entire neighbourhood shocked.
Before sunrise, people began knocking on her door asking for early supplies. By mid-morning, her shop was so full that customers queued outside, something that had *never* happened since she opened.
Word spread quickly that Mama Aisha had new deals, a fresh shop layout, and friendlier service.
“It was like the whole town suddenly remembered that my shop existed,” she said with a wide smile.
“I sold more in one day than I usually sold in a whole week.”
Regular customers now praise her warm personality, clean presentation, and the new “Customer Special Shelf” she introduced, a shelf filled with discounted but high-quality items.
Some residents say her success came from finally making her business visible and refreshing its energy.TO READ FULL STORY, TAP HERE.
