Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga today held Raila Odinga's memorial service in Homa Bay county an event that was attended by key ODM leaders.
"In a powerful tribute at the stadium that bears his name, we held the first Ecumenical Memorial Service for Baba Raila Odinga in Homa Bay. We commemorated the legacy of a leader who shaped our nation's democracy and devolution.
True to the ODM Party's resolution, this service provided a space for Baba's supporters to gather and honour the man they so loved. It was here that Homa Bay County pledged its support for Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga as the new Party Leader.
We were joined by Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko (Migori), National Assembly Leader of Minority Hon. Junet Mohammed, Deputy Governor Dr. Matthews Owili (Kisumu), Hon. Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay), Hon. Sam Atandi (Alego Usonga), Hon. Peter Masara (Suna West)
Hon. Dr. Lilian Gogo (Rangwe), Hon. Joyce Osogo Bensuda (Homa Bay), Hon. Dr. Eve Obara (Kabondo Kasipul), Hon. Fatuma Full Network (Migori), Hon. Walter Owino (Awendo), Hon. Boyd Were (ODM candidate for Kasipul), MCAs, clergy, and other distinguished leaders who showcased the strong, unified front he built," she posted.
From the post, it was very evident that this event was skipped by top ODM party leaders including Siaya governor James Orengo, Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang Nyongo, Cabinet Secretaries Opiyo Wandayi of energy, John Mbadi of Finance, Hassan Joho and Wicklife Oparanya.
Other leaders absent included, Embakasi East mp Babu Owino, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Homa Bay senator Otieno Kajwang among other key leaders including deputy party leaders; Simba Arati, Abdulswamad, Osotsi among others.
