"Ni Wakati Wake Kunyoroshwa?" What Crowd Told Junet After Mentioning Gachagua Before Bondo Visit

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, set off laughter and cheers during the memorial ceremony of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Homa Bay.

While paying tribute to Raila’s decades-long struggle for democracy and justice, Junet recalled how former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua used to wake up early to counter Azimio la Umoja protests.

Amid loud cheers from the crowd, Junet said that it was now Gachagua’s turn to face the heat.

" Sasa ni wakati wake wa kunyoroshwa? Sisi sio wajinga,” Junet said, as the crowd shouted "ndiyo, ndiyo" in support of his stand.

He added that the ODM party would no longer position itself as the opposition.

His remarks came just a day before Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s scheduled visit to Bondo, where they are expected to meet Raila’s family at Opoda Farm.

The event, hosted by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, was held in honour of Raila Odinga’s lifelong dedication to democracy, social justice, and equity.

Among those in attendance were ODM acting party leader Oburu Odinga, Migori Governor Ochillo Ayacko, Kisumu Deputy Governor Matthew Owili, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma, Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo, Kasipul Kabondo MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, and youthful Kasipul parliamentary aspirant Boyd Were, alongside several grassroots leaders.
