NEWS JUST IN: Ruto Jets to Angola Hours After Meeting Museveni

President William Ruto has left for Luanda, Angola, to represent Kenya at the 7th African Union–European Union Summit.

The visit, announced by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed on Monday, November 24, 2025, will also see the President chair the session of the Ad Hoc Oversight Committee on African Union Institutional Reform.

According to State House, President Ruto’s trip aims to strengthen Africa-Europe cooperation, highlight Kenya’s development priorities, and attract investment for key national projects.

The AU-EU Summit will review 20 years of partnership and address challenges such as funding gaps, shifting geopolitics, and security threats.

During the summit, the President is expected to engage European leaders in discussions on trade, investment, and collaboration on peace and security.

Hussein Mohammed noted that Kenya will push for predictable financing for African-led peace missions, enhanced counter-terrorism efforts, and climate change initiatives.

President Ruto will also promote Kenya’s economic transformation agenda, which focuses on advancing the country toward a first-world economy.

Part of this strategy includes seeking investors for public-private partnership projects, such as large-scale irrigation, mega dams, and expansion of clean and industrial energy.

Infrastructure projects like roads, airports, ports, and railways are also expected to feature in discussions.

This official visit follows closely after President Ruto’s tour of Uganda, where he announced that Kenya and Uganda will jointly acquire shares in the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC).

The planned investment allows Uganda to buy into the company through a public listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange once the privatisation process is complete.

The joint ownership initiative, according to President Ruto, builds on frameworks previously agreed during ministerial meetings and strengthens regional economic collaboration.

He assured that the partnership is transparent and will benefit both countries in managing strategic infrastructure.

State House highlighted that the trip underlines Kenya’s commitment to regional integration and development.

By engaging international partners, the Ruto administration hopes to secure funding and technical support for transformative projects that directly impact the livelihoods of Kenyans.

Observers note that President Ruto’s tour comes at a crucial time, as Kenya continues to pursue ambitious development programs while positioning itself as a hub for trade and investment in East Africa.

With several upcoming projects requiring financing and expertise, the international summit provides a platform to attract both public and private sector participation.

In addition to bilateral discussions, the President will present Kenya’s progress in institutional reforms, governance, and investment readiness.
