Andrew Adipo Okuome’s political story is one of extraordinary patience. For 37 years, every time he tried to become Karachuonyo’s Member of Parliament, he lost. Yet, he refused to quit.
His political journey began in 1980, when he contested for the Karachuonyo seat for the first time. That was the start of a long streak of defeats. Election after election, the results were the same — his name would be on the ballot, but he never took the oath of office.
