Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has promised strict action against any Kenyan caught taking or offering bribes during the upcoming police recruitment exercise.
Speaking on Sunday at a church service at A.G.C. Kaboson in Bomet County, Murkomen warned that authorities will arrest and prosecute anyone involved in corrupt practices during the recruitment process.
“We demand transparency and accountability. Those carrying money to bribe officials will be arrested. Corruption will not be tolerated,” Murkomen said.
He urged local communities to play a key role in ensuring the process is fair by recording and reporting anyone attempting to bribe recruitment officials.

Murkomen questioned why citizens are often quick to record politicians but fail to document acts of corruption that affect ordinary Kenyans.
“We want citizens to be observers during recruitment. If you see someone trying to bribe, record it and report it to us. Together, we can fight corruption,” he added.
Murkomen also directed recruitment officials to strictly follow the scheduled timelines for the exercise, emphasizing that all activities must conclude by 5pm each day across all centers nationwide.

“The exercise should be completed on time, and results should be announced immediately so that everyone knows the outcome fairly,” he stated.
The Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed that the recruitment will take place on November 17, 2025, across all sub-counties in Kenya.
