Kenyans online have sparked a heated debate after photos of President William Ruto in military uniform during the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Day celebrations were compared to those of former President Uhuru Kenyatta in similar attire.
Ruto, who presided over the ceremony in Eldoret, wore a full KDF uniform for the first time since taking office, with his name “William Ruto” printed on the right side and the initials “C in C” (Commander-in-Chief) on the left.
The look immediately drew reactions from Kenyans, with many making side by side comparisons between his outfit and Uhuru’s when he donned military regalia during past national events.
A section of Kenyans praised Ruto’s look, saying the uniform suited him perfectly and made him appear firm and authoritative. Others, however, argued that Uhuru looked more natural and composed in the same outfit.
The debate has dominated social media platforms, with users sharing memes, polls, and split images of the two leaders, asking: “Who killed it?”
The conversation reflects Kenyans’ growing interest in presidential symbolism and how each leader carries the image of the Commander-in-Chief.
