A family in Nambilima village, Lugari, Kakamega County, is mourning the brutal killing of their daughter, Faith Kiliswa Namakwangwachi, a fourth-year student at Alupe University.
The 22-year-old was found dead inside a guesthouse, with investigators linking her death to her boyfriend, Dubicuss Wafula.
Her brother, Junior, said she left home at around 4pm after asking him to look after her baby while she went to the market.
When she failed to return, the family grew worried.
The following day, Junior received a call while at work informing him that Faith had been killed.
He said her body had visible marks on the neck.
The guesthouse manager revealed that Wafula had earlier booked a room, saying he would spend the night there with Faith.
When her body was discovered, he alerted police, and the OCS confirmed she had been murdered.
The manager added that Wafula paid for the room via M-Pesa, which helped police track him.
Faith’s father, who recently buried his wife, said the pain of losing his daughter weeks later was unbearable.
He explained that she was close to completing her studies and described the tragedy as the work of the devil.
Wafula was later arrested in Muhoroni while attempting to flee to Nairobi.
He is expected to face murder charges.
