A family in Nambilima village, Lugari, Kakamega County, is in mourning after their daughter, Faith Kiliswa Namakwangwachi, was found dead in a guesthouse under tragic circumstances.
Faith, a fourth-year student at Alupe University, reportedly left home on September 16 to buy potatoes at a nearby market but never returned.
Her brother, Junior, said they waited for hours before becoming worried.
He explained that when night fell, they tried calling her phone, but it was switched off.
The following day, while at work, he received the devastating news that his sister had been killed.
Faith’s body was later discovered in a room at Mbande Guest House in Matete.
The guesthouse manager confirmed that the suspect had earlier booked the room and returned later with the student.
According to him, when Faith’s lifeless body was found with injuries on her neck, he immediately contacted the police.
Investigators revealed that the suspect had paid for the room using M-Pesa, which made it easier to track him down.
Reports indicate that the suspect, identified as Dubicuss Wafula, allegedly murdered Faith after an intimate encounter.
He is said to have stabbed her multiple times before fleeing.
Police later arrested him in Muhoroni as he attempted to escape to Nairobi.
Faith’s father, still grieving the loss of his wife weeks earlier, described the double tragedy as unbearable.
He said his daughter was close to finishing her studies and blamed the misfortunes on the work of the devil.
The family is now appealing to the government to ensure justice is served for their daughter’s untimely death.
