Youths Turn Up In Large Numbers For The KDF Recruitment In West Pokot

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment is going on today at Chewoyet High School in Kapenguria, West Pokot. Many young men and women have come from different parts of the county to try their luck and join the army.

Some people came very early in the morning, and others even walked long distances to reach the school. The school field is full of people, and the officers are busy checking documents, doing medical tests, and making sure the people are fit.

The recruitment officers are checking if the young people have the right documents like ID cards and school certificates. They are also doing body checks and asking the young people to run, do push-ups, and other physical exercises to see if they are strong and healthy.

The officers have said the recruitment is free. Nobody should give money to join the army. If someone asks for money, that is wrong. It is a lie. Some community leaders and police officers are there to make sure everything is fair and no one is doing bad things.

Before the recruitment started, the boss of KDF, General Charles Kahariri, said all officers must be honest and follow the rules. He said anyone who takes bribes will be punished. He also said the new system will use technology to check people properly.

The Ministry of Defence told the public not to believe fake people who say they can help someone join KDF for money. The real recruitment is only done by the government, and it is announced on radio, TV, and official websites.

Some young people are worried because the exercises are hard. Others say they do not have enough money for transport or food. But many still hope they will pass and get the chance to join the KDF and get a good job.

The recruitment in Kapenguria is part of the big KDF exercise happening all over Kenya from October 13 to October 25.
