Photo Of Meru Catholic Nun Brutally Killed, Body Dumped in Her House

Police in Meru are investigating a shocking incident where a senior Catholic nun was found murdered in her home, with another nun emerging as the prime suspect.

Sister Anselimina Karimi, 65, who served as the administrator of Meru Children’s Home in Nkabune on the outskirts of Meru town, was discovered dead on Sunday morning, October 12, 2025.

According to police reports, she is believed to have been killed on Saturday night, and her body was later dumped in her house.

Imenti East Sub-county Police Commander confirmed the incident, stating that detectives from the DCI’s Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau had taken over the investigation.

A senior police officer, who requested anonymity, revealed that the main suspect is a fellow Catholic nun who had recently been transferred to the children’s home to replace Sister Karimi.

Preliminary findings suggest that the victim was murdered elsewhere and her body returned to her residence.

The officer reported that the deceased was found lying on her back in the dining room with blood coming from the ears, nose, and mouth.

There was blood on her clothes and one curtain, and she had been hit on the head with a blunt object.

The officer added that they believe she was murdered elsewhere and her body brought back to the house because her clothes had blackjack seeds.

Police also noted signs of scene tampering, saying the house appeared to have been cleaned.

Forensic investigations revealed that the deceased was last active at 10 p.m. on Saturday, and her phone, switched off an hour later, has not been recovered.

The suspect reportedly called colleagues after finding the body and requested that they rush Sister Karimi to Consolata Mission Hospital Nkubu, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Family members, who had been warned by the late sister that her life was in danger, raised the alarm and reported the matter to police.

The suspect is expected to be charged in court on Tuesday.
