‘Peleka kwa Ruto, Takataka’ — Fury as Kibra MP Peter Orero Caught on Camera Insulting Larry Madowo While Breaking Traffic Rules

Kibra Member of Parliament Peter Orero has come under fire after a video showing him insulting CNN journalist Larry Madowo during a traffic standoff went viral online.

In the footage, believed to have been recorded along a busy Nairobi road, Orero was seen in the front passenger seat of a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road.

Larry Madowo, who was driving in the correct lane, refused to give way, leading to a heated confrontation between the two sides.

When Madowo began recording the scene, the MP appeared irritated and shouted, “Peleka kwa Ruto, takataka!” (Take it to Ruto, rubbish!). His driver joined in, hurling more insults before speeding off.

The clip spread quickly across social media, drawing widespread condemnation from Kenyans who accused the lawmaker of arrogance and disregard for traffic laws.

“That is an elected leader! No wonder Gen Zs have no faith in the current crop of politicians,” one user wrote on X.

Another added, “A whole MP breaking the law in broad daylight? How can we expect citizens to obey rules when leaders don’t?”

The Motorists Association of Kenya also criticized the incident, demanding action against both the MP and his driver.

In a statement, the group said public servants must lead by example, not hide behind power and privilege.

“Carrying a VIP requires humility, not arrogance. We expect swift disciplinary measures from traffic authorities,” read part of their message.

Interestingly, some Kenyans claimed to have known Orero from his days as a strict teacher at Upper Hill School, saying they were surprised to see him involved in such behavior.

“He was our deputy principal—firm but fair. Seeing him break traffic laws now is disappointing,” said one former student.

This is not the first time Madowo has clashed with reckless drivers. Earlier this year, he confronted a matatu driver overlapping traffic and recorded the incident, sparking similar online conversations about discipline, leadership, and respect for the rule of law.

The National Police Service has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
