Mary, who is eight months pregnant, said she found herself in a desperate situation after returning to Saudi for her second work contract.
During her holiday in Kenya, she fell pregnant, unaware of the challenges awaiting her upon return to the Gulf.
“When I told my boss about my pregnancy, they said I either terminate it or give the baby to a mosque once it’s born,” she said tearfully during a live session with Voo TV.
“This is my first child. What is the point of working so hard if I have to give away my baby?”
Her confession has stirred outrage and sympathy among Kenyans online, many expressing disbelief at the inhumane treatment domestic workers continue to face in the Middle East.
Some urged her to find a way back home before delivery, while others criticized recruitment agents for failing to conduct thorough medical checks before deployment.
Mary’s story mirrors that of many Kenyan women working in the Gulf, who face tough working conditions, discrimination, and limited access to medical or legal protection.
In a similar case, another woman, Faith Wambui from Kiambu, revealed she had to leave her baby behind in Saudi after her employer’s boss impregnated her.
As Mary counts down the final weeks of her pregnancy, she remains torn between her safety and her unborn child’s future—pleading for help to return home before it’s too late.
“I just want to hold my baby and go back home. That’s all I pray for,” she said.
