Mama Ajificha? Samia Suluhu Whereabouts Unknown as Election Chaos Rock Tanzania

Tanzania has been thrown into confusion after post-election violence broke out across major cities, and President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Reports reaching our newsroom suggest that the country’s communication systems have been heavily restricted, making it hard to confirm her location or the true extent of the chaos.

Thousands of angry Tanzanians took to the streets soon after vote counting began, claiming that the election was not fair.

Witnesses say security officers used live bullets and tear gas to disperse protesters, leading to deaths and injuries in several towns.

In Dodoma, top government officials have also disappeared from public view, fueling speculation that the state has lost control.

At the Namanga border, tensions spilled over when Kenyan and Tanzanian youth clashed with police officers.

Two people were reported dead—Tanzanian national Kabuli Balayi and a Kenyan businessman, John Kahindi—while others, including a Kenyan police officer, were seriously injured.

The bodies were taken to a nearby mortuary as calm slowly returned to the area.

Diplomatic sources hint that at least ten people have been killed nationwide, though these figures are yet to be verified.

The state-owned broadcaster announced preliminary results showing President Suluhu leading with large margins in several regions.

However, the opposition party, Chadema, led by Tundu Lissu, rejected the outcome and called for nationwide protests, accusing the government of rigging.

Foreign governments have raised alarm over the deteriorating situation. The United Kingdom confirmed that airports in Arusha and near Mount Kilimanjaro have been closed, and international flights to Dar es Salaam suspended.

Businesses in Dar and Mwanza have also shut down as citizens fear more violence.

Adding to the uncertainty, popular Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz deleted all his campaign posts supporting President Suluhu, a move that many interpreted as him distancing himself from the regime amid the unrest.

The Tanzanian government has yet to release any official statement about President Suluhu’s safety or whereabouts. Rumors suggest she may have been moved to a secure location as protests continue.
