Senator Wambua has strongly criticized those who are using Governor Kahiga’s recent controversial statement to target the entire Mt Kenya community.
He said such actions are far worse than the original remark itself.
According to Wambua, a statement made by one individual should never be interpreted as representing the views or sentiments of an entire community.
He emphasized the importance of separating personal opinions from collective identity.
Wambua argued that politicizing the governor’s comment undermines unity in Mt Kenya.
He warned that attempts to link the region as a whole to the statement are misleading and dangerous for social cohesion.
The senator described the trend as a deliberate political maneuver.
“Anyone trying to associate Mt Kenya with this individual’s comment is playing politics,” Wambua said, calling for such behavior to be publicly condemned.
He stressed that the community has historically stood for peace and development.
“It is unfair to judge thousands of people based on one person’s words,” he added, urging political actors to act responsibly.
Wambua also pointed out that public leaders have a duty to clarify issues rather than exploit them.
Misrepresenting communities for political gain, he noted, erodes trust and deepens divisions.
He further warned that using Kahiga’s statement as a political weapon could inflame tensions unnecessarily.
“This is not just unethical; it is harmful to national unity,” Wambua remarked.
The senator urged media and political commentators to exercise caution in framing narratives.
He insisted that responsible reporting and debate are critical to avoid mischaracterizing entire regions.
