Doctors Who Treated Raila In India Lands In Kenya Days After His Burial, Their Mission Revealed

A team of doctors from India who cared for the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga have arrived in Kenya to honor his memory.

The doctors, who worked at Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Hospital in Kerala, were among those who treated Raila before his passing earlier this month.

The medics were warmly received in Mombasa by Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, who also serves as the deputy leader of the ODM party.

They were accompanied by Raila’s daughter, Rosemary Odinga. Governor Nassir shared that the visit was a touching gesture from the doctors who had closely worked with Raila during his treatment.

“This morning, I welcomed Rosemary Odinga and the team of doctors from India who attended to our late party leader. They came to pay their final respects to a man whose legacy went beyond borders,” Nassir said.

He added that Raila’s life was one of courage, unity, and love for humanity, values that inspired people around the world.

Raila first visited the Indian hospital after Rosemary received treatment there in 2022 that helped her recover her eyesight. After seeing her improvement, he chose the same facility for his own care.

The ODM leader reportedly collapsed while undergoing treatment at the Ayurvedic hospital before being rushed to Devamatha Hospital.

Doctors there tried to save his life through emergency procedures, but he passed away on the morning of October 15 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Following his death, many Kenyans and international figures shared messages of condolence, describing him as a true statesman and a champion of democracy.

The Raila Odinga Foundation has since taken over the management of his official social media pages.

Governor Nassir encouraged Kenyans to continue pursuing Raila’s dream of a fair and united country.

“May his spirit live on through the work we do for a better Kenya,” he said.
