The government of Tanzania under president Samia Suluhu Hassan has faced criticism due to the unfortunate things that are happening to the opposition.
Suluhu took over the leadership mantle in March 2021 following the death of John Magufuli and became the first woman to hold the position.
As the nation is going for general election, people have been detained with serious offenses of treason and other have been reportedly abducted and harassed.
Father Nikata is a Catholic priest and lecturer at St Augustine University of Tanzania, he was reported missing in early October 2025 and has later been found alive in Ruvuma Region.
It's has been reported that he was abducted, forced to take poison and dumped into a forest by a special squad reportedly targeting anyone who speaks against President Samia Suluhu.
The police has however, denied any involvement in his disappearance and dismissed claims of abduction or poisoning.
