Woman Heartbroken After Her Father Is Killed in Post-Election Violence

 

A young woman in Tanzania is mourning her father after he was tragically killed during the chaos that followed the country’s October 29 elections.

The polls were marked by confusion, protests, and clashes that rights groups say claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people across the country.

The disputed election triggered anger among many citizens who believed the process was not free or fair. 

Some people chose not to vote, others protested in the streets, and in some areas, ballot boxes were stolen as demonstrators rejected the way the election was conducted. 

Supporters of several detained opposition leaders were also involved in the unrest.
