What TZ Bishops Have Found Out After Investigating Why Tanzanians Protested Against Samia

Tanzanian President, Samia Suluhu, has been cautioned that she is dealing with an angry country whose citizens are bitter with her.

This is courtesy of the Tanzania Catholic Bishops' Conference (TEC), which has warned that the anger has been boiling for a long time, hence the recent eruption into protests.

TEC President, Wolfgang Pisa, has pointed out that this has been caused by among others, lack of democracy, with citizens being forced to accept leaders imposed on them by the government.

He has also spoken about security, specifically cases of government critics being abducted and some being found lifeless.

"There have been clear incidents of killings, kidnappings, beatings and injuring of civilians without any concrete steps being taken to stop them," he said on Saturday.

"The Constitution of Tanzania clearly states that everyone has the right to life and to protection of life in accordance with the law."

According to Pisa, Tanzanians are also annoyed by cases of government agencies abandoning citizens and working for those in power, leaving them defenceless and with no one to complain to.
