Tough Times for Oburu Odinga as Long Term ODM Member Reveals Plans to Quit the Party

Raila Odinga’s elder brother, Senator Oburu Odinga, is facing growing political pressure in Nyanza after long-serving Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) member and former Kasipul parliamentary aspirant Newton Ogada announced plans to quit the party.

Ogada, a respected philanthropist and community leader, expressed frustration over the chaotic party primaries held on September 24, which he described as violent and unfair.

He claimed his hospital was vandalised and several vehicles destroyed during the exercise, estimating his total loss at over KSh 4 million.

“The violence witnessed was not political competition but an assault on democracy,” Ogada said, accusing the party leadership of remaining silent despite numerous reports to police and party officials.

He lamented that no ODM leader had condemned the attacks or offered assistance, calling it “a betrayal of loyal members who have sacrificed for the party.” TO READ MORE, TAP HERE.
