On one such calm day in Kang'o Ka Jaramogi, Silas Chepkeres Jakakimba, his family, and close friends visited the resting place of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga.
It was a solemn visit for one quiet moment of reflection and respect to the memory of a man whose legacy has been the shaping influence of Kenya's history.
Standing before Jakom's resting place, Jakakimba and his team bowed their heads in silence, honoring a legacy that lives on to inspire generations.
They then left for Opoda, where they were welcomed by Mama Ida Odinga. Accompanying Silas were his sons: KiimbaLets, Seth Ramogi, and Fidel Castro Jakakimba, as well as his brother Omondi, cousin Akinyi Jane, nephew Jim Victor, driver Abel, and family friend Moses Ogolla Soja.
The mood at Opoda was soft, yet uplifting. Mama Ida, as always graceful, welcomed her guests with warmth and calm strength.
Her grandsons presented her with baskets of fresh fish from Mfangano Island-a heartfelt and traditional gesture that lifted her day.
The sight of the young boys, symbols of continuity and hope, brought a smile to her face as laughter and light conversation filled the homestead.
For Jakakimba and his family, the visit was more than courtesy. It was a reaffirmation of respect, kinship, and memory, a reminder that even in loss, love and legacy live on.
Their hearts were full as they departed Opoda while the soft words of Silas lingered on: En mana lweny — "It is a battle," but one fought with grace and unity.
