Mbeere North – Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has threatened to reveal secrets about former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, claiming he gathered sensitive information while serving as Interior Cabinet Secretary.
Kindiki made the remarks on November 23, 2025, during a rally in Kivue, Mbeere North, where he was campaigning for UDA candidate Leonard Muthende ahead of the November 27 by-election.
While addressing residents, the Deputy President criticized Gachagua for referring to him as merely an employee of President William Ruto, instead of acknowledging his role as Deputy President. He warned that he would expose the information he holds if Gachagua continues to insult him.
“Gachagua, leave me alone! I will shame you. I am not someone to play with,” Kindiki declared. “You have threatened many people, but your days are over.”
Kindiki also accused Gachagua of intimidating leaders in the Mount Kenya region. He compared his own record as a professional and elected leader to that of Gachagua, claiming that Gachagua’s political career does not match his.
“He was elected as a one-term MP and did not even chair a parliamentary committee. He was a backbencher when I was Majority Leader in the Senate,” Kindiki said.
The Deputy President further alleged that Gachagua forced the issue of being picked as Deputy President in 2022. He claimed Gachagua orchestrated the “No Rigathi, No Ruto” protests within the UDA party to pressure President Ruto into selecting him.
Kindiki described Gachagua as lacking the political decorum of past Mount Kenya leaders and criticized his radical anti-government stance. He urged for peaceful campaigns in Mbeere North, warning against actions that could escalate tensions ahead of the by-election.
Residents attending the rally listened intently as Kindiki addressed the crowd, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency among political leaders. Many hailed his speech as a bold stand against internal party disputes and what they described as political intimidation.
The DP’s comments come amid growing tensions within the UDA party, as political leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections. Analysts say Kindiki’s strong words signal a more confrontational approach within party politics, especially in key constituencies like Mbeere North.
Kindiki’s rally highlighted his continued influence in the region, as he campaigns for UDA candidates while asserting his authority and challenging former colleagues. He remains focused on ensuring that party structures are respected and that political leaders are held accountable for their actions.
The by-election on November 27 is drawing national attention, with multiple parties and candidates competing for the parliamentary seat. Observers note that campaigns in the area have intensified, with high-profile leaders actively mobilizing voters.
As the election date approaches, Kindiki’s threat to expose Gachagua’s secrets is likely to dominate political discussions. Both UDA supporters and opposition members are closely watching developments, aware that the outcome of the Mbeere North by-election could influence broader political alignments ahead of the next general elections.
Kindiki concluded his speech by urging calm and peaceful participation in the electoral process, stressing that political differences should not lead to violence or division.
