“I Was Conned 500k in a Fake KDF Recruitment — It Was the Only Money I Had Saved in My Life,” Man Shares

When someone loses money in a scam, people often tell you, “Just accept it and move on.” But anyone who has ever lost their entire savings knows it is not that simple.

This is the painful experience Michael, a young man from Kawempe, Kampala, went through after he fell victim to a fake KDF recruitment syndicate. The 500,000 UGX he lost was all he had saved for years.

Michael explains that he saw an advert circulating online claiming that special KDF recruitment slots were available for “selected applicants.” The advert looked official, the people running it sounded professional, and everything appeared legitimate.

They even organized fake interviews and made applicants believe their names had already been “pre-approved.”

Michael was told to pay 500,000 UGX as a “processing and clearance fee.” He trusted them because they insisted that once he paid, he would be on the list for the next intake. But the moment he sent the money, everything changed.

The numbers he had been calling were switched off. The office they used for interviews was suddenly closed. That was when reality hit him—he had been conned.

That night, he could not sleep. He felt ashamed, confused, and lost. He wondered how he would tell his family that the money they all depended on was gone. It was the darkest moment of his life.TO READ MORE, TAP HERE.
