Gachagua Mocks Ruto’s State of the Nation Address, Terms It Useless During Mbeere North Campaigns

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has continued to attack President William Ruto, saying the State of the Nation address delivered in Parliament was a useless speech without any real value for Kenyans.

Gachagua made the strong remarks on Thursday while campaigning in Mbeere North ahead of the November 27 by-election.

While speaking to residents, Gachagua said President Ruto focused on drama instead of development.

He noted that the speech had no clear achievements and no solutions to the challenges affecting ordinary citizens.

According to him, Kenyans were waiting for direction and practical action, not long speeches that do not change anything.

Gachagua accused the government of mismanaging public money and allowing a period of lawlessness.

He mentioned rising insecurity, abductions, and cases of intimidation, saying they made the President’s message unreliable.

He also criticised the government for spending Ksh.500 million in Mbeere North on what he called political showmanship instead of using the money to provide essential services.

He questioned why such a large amount of money was used during campaigns in an area that still needs clean water, stable electricity, and good roads.

Gachagua argued that if the government truly cared about citizens, development would come first. He told residents that leaders should bring projects that improve lives, not only seek votes.

Gachagua also took aim at the address delivered in Parliament. He said the message did not match the daily struggles of Kenyans. He mocked the presentation, saying it was full of empty claims.

According to him, many promises were made earlier, but instead of giving more support to citizens, the government only made life harder.

He further alleged that government officials were using voter bribery and pressure in favour of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Muthende.

He warned residents not to fall for promises of money in exchange for votes, reminding them that once the polls end, such promises disappear.

The former Deputy President added that the November 27 by-election would act as a signal from the Mt. Kenya region.

He called it a moment of political reckoning where residents could show their dissatisfaction with President Ruto.

Gachagua noted that Mbeere North plays a key role in sending a message that the region feels betrayed.

Gachagua has been campaigning for Newton Kariuki, the Democratic Party (DP) candidate.

Thursday marked his fourth day in the area, following rallies in Ciangera, Kavengero, and door-to-door visits earlier in the week.

His meetings have drawn large crowds, as he continues to position himself as the voice of frustrated voters.

He was accompanied by leaders including former Cabinet Secretary JB Muturi, Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, Nyandarua Senator John Methu, and Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thangwa.

The group urged residents to vote for change and reject what they termed poor leadership from the Kenya Kwanza administration.
