Ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta Spotted Driving Himself In Nairobi’s Busy Streets

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was spotted personally driving a black Mercedes Benz G-Wagon through Nairobi’s bustling streets.

The candid moment, captured by Sikika Road Safety on Tuesday, November 18, shows Uhuru behind the wheel without the usual presence of a chauffeur.

Such sightings are rare, offering the public a glimpse of the former head of state navigating city traffic on his own.

Uhuru’s choice of vehicle is no ordinary SUV. The Mercedes Benz G-Wagon is renowned for its luxury, strength, and commanding presence.

The former president’s version is armoured, featuring thick glass, run-flat tyres, and reinforced chassis, making it a fortress on wheels.

Armouring a G-Wagon comes at a significant cost. While the base model sells for over KSh 15 million, additional protective modifications can push the total price to between KSh 15 million and KSh 50 million.

These upgrades include bulletproof glass, strengthened suspension, engine adjustments, and sometimes even smoke screens and air filtration systems for added security.

The former President Uhuru’s driving history with the G-Wagon is not entirely new.

In March 2022, he was spotted navigating the same SUV during an unplanned visit to Kenyatta Market.

Earlier footage also captured him buying groundnuts along Uhuru Highway, highlighting a surprisingly hands-on approach for a former president.

Over the years, Ex-President Uhuru has been spotted in several top-of-the-range cars.

Hawk-eyed Kenyans were quick to point out that he may be stacking several of these beasts in his garage

The sighting has triggered mixed reactions online.

While some Kenyans admire the simplicity of Uhuru choosing to drive himself, others express surprise, noting that such moments are uncommon for high-profile leaders.
