The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has come out to firmly deny a viral letter claiming that party leader Eugene Wamalwa had been expelled from his position.
The letter, which spread quickly on social media, alleged that the National Executive Committee (NEC) had held an emergency meeting and decided to replace Wamalwa with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
DAP-K dismissed the document as fake and misleading, saying no such meeting had taken place.
According to the party, the letter was created to confuse the public and disrupt unity within the party.
The document even carried a forged signature claiming Seth Panyako had been appointed acting secretary general.
The party stated that its leadership remains unchanged and that any official communication would only come through verified platforms.
It condemned the spread of false documents, calling it an attempt to destabilise the party as it prepares for important political events.
Governor George Natembeya also weighed in on the matter, strongly dismissing the claims.
He said the letter was part of a political plot by some pro-government figures who feared DAP-K’s rising support, especially in the upcoming Malava parliamentary by-election.
Natembeya claimed the fake letter was meant to weaken the party’s influence in Malava.
“This letter is being circulated by UDA members who already know we are on the verge of winning the Malava seat. It is a calculated attempt to create confusion and distract our people. Ignore it in its entirety,” he said.
He added that DAP-K remains united.
“Stay focused, we are firmly on course, and we are winning the Malava seat. Malava is a one-people constituency; it is a win for Seth Panyako,” he stated.
DAP-K has urged supporters to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. The party says it is committed to transparency, truth, and stability as it moves forward.
The incident comes at a politically sensitive time, with several parties sharpening their strategies ahead of key elections. DAP-K maintains that its leadership is solid, and Eugene Wamalwa continues to serve as the official party leader.
The party is now encouraging Kenyans to verify information before sharing it, especially during a time when political tensions are high and misinformation is easily spread.
