After Wiper’s successful NDC, you could smell the panic online. Some government-leaning voices who’ve been living on political rumors suddenly turned into overnight prophets.
They were busy making noise about how “very soon Kalonzo will be taken mararoundi State House,” as if wishful thinking counts as strategy.
Another group was shouting that Kalonzo is about to “join Ruto,” and that Gideon Moi’s visit allegedly opened the door. That’s not analysis, that’s desperation disguised as gossip.
Let’s deal with facts. Kalonzo Musyoka is currently sitting on a political goldmine that many presidential hopefuls can only dream of.
He walks into 2027 with firm backing from Mt. Kenya leaders in the opposition, a united Kamba base, a major share of Kisii, and growing influence at the Coast, in Western, and across Maa territories. That’s not a man looking for employment, it’s a man preparing to lead.
What exactly would he gain by running to Ruto? Which position in this government is bigger than the one he’s poised to take through the ballot? State House isn’t recruiting assistants.
Pauline Njoroge said it best: Kalonzo is not the kind of leader to trade his inheritance for a bowl of porridge. He’s not Esau.
He’s not desperate. He’s not gullible. Those praying for his defection need to worry about their own shaky houses.
The real truth? It’s the so-called broad-based defenders of the regime who are panicking.
They know the opposition has found its center of gravity. And once Mt. Kenya, Kamba, Kisii, Coast, Western, and Maa voices rally behind one ticket, the fake confidence collapses.
So instead of inventing dreams about State House visits, they’d better prepare for a real political contest, because Kalonzo isn’t crossing over. He’s crossing through.
