Despite signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with President William Ruto, former prime minister Raila Odinga has maintained that he has not joined the government, instead he is there to bring stability after the Gen Zs protests almost brought down the Kenya Kwanza administration last year, during finance bill 2024 protests.
Nevertheless, Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has come out publicly to earn ODM boss Raila Odinga against trusting Dr Ruto. He warned that the Head of State is hatching a strong plan to sow discord in the opposition party, that will see key leaders in ODM fight against each other.
“William Ruto once told me that he would get close to ODM and split it down the middle — and now it's actually happening. Today, ODM members are turning on each other: Luo MPs are clashing with their Luhya counterparts. Just as Ruto predicted, he said he’d approach ODM, recognizing its strength, and cause a major division from within.” Gachagua claimed.
Speaking on on Sunday, October 12, 2025, the DCP party leader noted that President William Ruto is pulling strings behind the scene, that have seen the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) marred in wrangles.
The former Mathira Member of Parliament exposed President William Ruto well oiled and orchestrated plan to divide ODM before the next presidential elections, warning that by the time Raila Odinga realizes, ODM will be finished.
“So Raila, even though your supporters are attacking me, I just want to let you know — Ruto is going to dismantle your ODM party,” Gachagua affirmed.
