Kenya, through the MPs, will create two more influential positions, below the Presidency, to honour the late political enigma Raila Odinga, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has said.
Speaking during the funeral of the late Raila Odinga in Bondo on Sunday, Junet stated that President William Ruto has allowed the leadership of the parliament to amend the constitution as per the NADCO recommendations and create the Prime Minister and the Official Opposition Leader positions.
In his message, Junet Mohamed has said that by doing so, Kenya will have honoured the late Raila Odinga, who wanted to eliminate the issue of winner takes all, mentality after every general election, and end the post election violence cycles that leave many dead.
“I have my colleagues, Kimani Ichung’wah and Aaron Cheruiyot, who are part of the NADCO committee. We have decided as Parliament that when we go back in a week's time, we will implement the NADCO report fully,” Junet said.
