Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has raised fresh questions about the circumstances surrounding the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Gachagua said Kenyans deserve clear answers about what happened during Raila’s final hours and questioned the medical care he received before his death.
Gachagua specifically questioned why Raila’s personal doctors were allegedly denied access to him during his final hours.
He also asked why doctors from Nairobi West Hospital were involved in his care instead of his own medical team.
These claims were raised by Gachagua as questions and have not been independently established as facts.
The former deputy president also questioned the decision to take Raila to India for medical treatment.
He asked why instructions from Raila’s doctors that he should not travel were allegedly ignored and why President William Ruto became involved in facilitating the trip.
Gachagua argued that Kenyans have a right to understand the decisions made before Raila’s death.
Gachagua further raised questions about Raila’s burial arrangements and the absence of a publicly available post-mortem report.
He asked why, according to his account, there was no post-mortem examination.
However, these questions should not be interpreted as proof that anyone was responsible for Raila’s death.

Raila died in India in October 2025 while receiving medical treatment, with reports at the time saying he suffered cardiac arrest.
