Kioni Speaks Out After Uhuru Warned Him Against Criticising Gachagua

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has announced that the party will hold a special sitting this week to improve its communication and restore unity.

This comes a few days after former President Uhuru Kenyatta warned party officials, including Kioni, against making negative statements about former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking during an interview on TV47 on Tuesday evening, Kioni explained that Uhuru’s remarks were not meant to attack anyone but to remind party members to be disciplined and speak with one voice.

He said the former President wanted to see the party communicate in an organized and respectful manner.

“What the former President meant was that our communication should be well-coordinated. We should speak as one team, not as individuals giving different messages,” Kioni said.

The Jubilee Secretary General revealed that the party will begin a retreat on Thursday to discuss and agree on a clear communication plan.

The retreat is expected to bring together all key party officials to come up with new strategies that will strengthen the party’s image and public trust.

Kioni said the new plan will focus on addressing issues that affect ordinary Kenyans rather than engaging in political fights.

“Our goal now is to focus on real issues that affect the people. We want to be a party that gives solutions, not one that adds noise to politics,” he added.

He admitted that the party has faced several challenges since the 2022 general election, including internal divisions and attempts by some individuals to take over the party unlawfully.

Kioni explained that these internal struggles had weakened their communication structure and confused party supporters.

“Since the 2022 elections, Jubilee has been on a journey of rebuilding. We have faced many challenges, including people who tried to take over the party illegally. That confusion made it hard for us to communicate properly,” Kioni stated.

Kioni said the upcoming retreat will mark a turning point for the party as it seeks to rebuild confidence among its members.

He expressed hope that after the meeting, the Jubilee Party will have a stronger and united communication system led by an official spokesperson.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s warning to Kioni came during a party meeting in Murang’a County last week.

While addressing party members, Uhuru told Kioni to stop using harsh language and social media attacks against other leaders, including Gachagua.

“And you, Kioni, I want to warn you about what you have been saying on social media, abusing Gachagua and others. I don’t want to see that again. I will not tolerate insults from anyone in my party,” Uhuru said during the meeting.

Uhuru reminded Jubilee members that they must remain respectful in politics and avoid personal attacks.

He emphasized that healthy debate and discipline are key for the party’s growth and public respect.

“Let us express our opinions respectfully. We can disagree on issues, but we should not abuse each other,” he advised.

The Jubilee Party, which once ruled Kenya under Uhuru Kenyatta’s leadership, has struggled to regain its position after the 2022 elections. Many of its former members joined other political alliances, leaving the party divided.

However, Kioni and other senior officials have been working to rebuild the party and reconnect with supporters across the country.

The upcoming retreat is expected to help the party reorganize itself and strengthen its voice ahead of the 2027 general election.

Kioni concluded by saying that the Jubilee Party still has an important role in Kenya’s political future.

“We may have faced tough times, but we are not done. Jubilee will rise again, and this retreat will help us move in one direction with a single message that serves the people of Kenya,” he stated.

The retreat will take place later this week, and Kioni promised to share the outcomes with the public once the meeting ends.
