Kenya’s gospel community continues to mourn the untimely death of Betty Bayo, a celebrated singer whose music inspired many believers across the country.
Betty passed away on November 10, 2025, after a long and painful battle with leukaemia, leaving behind a legacy of hope, faith, and resilience.
Her close friend, Ngaruiya Junior, revealed that he had tried to contact Betty’s ex-husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari, to inform him about her deteriorating health—but his attempts were unsuccessful.
“I personally called him, but he didn’t pick up,” Ngaruiya said in an interview.

“Her husband and family were already handling the situation, but I still tried to reach Kanyari. Later, gospel singer Loise Kim managed to call him and explained that Betty had been taken to Kenyatta Hospital.”
Ngaruiya also recalled a touching conversation he once had with Betty and her husband, Tash, about their new piece of land in Maragua.

“She and Tash often spoke about settling there permanently. I believe she’ll be buried on that land because it held a special place in her heart. But of course, her family will make the final decision.”
Another gospel artist, Shiru wa GP, shared heartbreaking details about Betty’s final hours. She revealed that Betty began feeling unwell while at home and started bleeding heavily.
