REVEALED: What Raila Told President Ruto in His Final Call Before He Collapsed and Died In India

President William Ruto has revealed emotional details about his last conversations with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga before his death.

Speaking during Raila’s funeral service at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University in Bondo, Siaya County, Ruto said their final call revealed Raila’s declining health.

According to the President, Raila had confided that he was feeling weak because he was taking strong medication.

Ruto explained that the ODM leader had sought treatment in several countries, including Dubai and the United States, before finally settling in India, where he later died.

The President recalled that during their last conversation, Raila mentioned that he had travelled to Malindi on the advice of doctors to rest and recover.

Ruto added that he had assured Raila of his support and wished him a quick recovery.

When Raila returned, the two met at his Karen home in the presence of his family. Ruto recounted that Raila appeared frail and admitted he was struggling with his health.

The President said he encouraged Raila to seek advanced medical attention and assured him that the government would cover all expenses.

Raila later decided to travel to India, where he had close friends, for further treatment.

Ruto emotionally described the morning of Raila’s death, explaining that he had received a message from Oburu Odinga saying Raila was unwell.

A short while later, another call confirmed that Raila had passed away.

The President commended Winnie Odinga for remaining close to her father throughout his illness and revealed the government’s efforts to honour Raila’s wish to be buried within 72 hours.

He concluded by describing Raila as “The People’s President”, a leader whose legacy will remain forever etched in Kenya’s history.
